September 1, 2011 Club Meeting

Program: Multimode Digital with Soundcards, VHF
The September program will be two-fold: Don Bennett will describe a sound card setup for multiple modes. We will also have a group discussion as to local VHF issues. That is, what repeaters are REALLY available locally, their location, sponsor, etc.
I ask that each of you consider your usage of and experience with local VHF and UHF repeaters. I would like to see assembled a current list of repeaters that are REALLY available and correspondingly those to which ‘outsiders’ are not really welcome. I hope for a candid but tame discussion.

June 2, 2011 Club Meeting

Program: Transmitter Hunting, Rich Harrington, KN6FW
This coming club meeting will be in the public arena as we learn and practice transmitter hunting (T-hunts) in Hawthorne Park. The start time is a bit early, at 6:30. Bring a 2m HT! Our guest, Rich Harrington KN6FW has given T-hunt seminars and demos many times in the Bay area.

The weather is warming up, the sky is occasionally blue, and … the young man’s fancy turns to … ANTENNAS! Antennas on the ground, antennas on the roof, antennas on a car or truck, antennas high in the sky. (It sounds like a Dr Seuss reader!)
Now that I have your attention, please come to the club meeting on May 5th and we will talk of antennas both big and small.

I hope to see you at the March meeting when Tom, N5EG will present his recent results using a simple doublet fed with 400 ohm parallel line for all-band HF operating. It is ‘almost’ an invisible antenna. See you there!

Program: Christmas Party. Bring a small gift (less than $10) marked YL or OM.
The December meeting is the club’s annual Christmas dinner and gift exchange.
I hope you all have your calendar marked for December 2 at 6:00 PM for the Radio Club holiday dinner. We will meet at the China Hut at the corner of South Riverside and 12th street. Bring useful gifts costing no more than ten dollars, and marked OM or YL.
