October Club Meeting

The RVARC club meeting will be held Thursday, October 2nd at 7:00 PM at the Jacksonville Library, 340 W C St., Jacksonville, Oregon. Our speaker will be Tom McDermott, N5EG, who will present on HF and NVIS propagation.

Field Day 2025

Our Field Day location has moved.

Due to unfortunate unseen circumstances we have had to make different arangments to our FIELD DAY LOCATION. The new location is: 3300 East Antelope Road Eagle Point Oregon 97524

Note this is NEAR but not actually in Agate Lake Park.

Battle of the Band

Amy, AG7GP is sponsoring the “Battle of the Band” to encourage more activity on 2 meters in The Rogue Valley. The objective is to works as many 2 meter simplex QSOs between June 1 and August 31, 2025 using FM, SSB, and CW modes. Amy noted in her recent presentation to the RVARC club that the Rogue Valley has a low level activity on 2 meters.

Field Day 2023

The Rogue Valley ARC (RVARC) and The Cascade Amateur Radio enthusiasts (CARE) will hold a joint Field Day this year. It will be held at 102 McDonough Rd., Gold Hill Oregon (this is in Sam’s Valley).

Electronic VE Testing Setup

TLDR: As a VE group, to simplify and expedite our process we moved from a paper based setup to Chromebooks and online testing through exam tools. Testing Background To get an Amateur Radio license individuals need to pass a test administered by a group of Volunteer Examiners (VE). Our group has given these tests under the ARRL VEC for many years. We have found handling all of the paperwork (forms and exams) to be time consuming.

RVARC Reflector

RVARC maintains a club email reflector.

The reflector is private, the contents are viewable only by subscribers, and only subscribers can send email via the reflector. New club members are (when I remember) issued an invitation to join. (There are a few expired invitations).

The Rogue Valley ARC has changed callsign to K7MFR in honor of former member Ellis Feinstein (SK).
