2024-01-04 RVARC Meeting Minutes

7:00pm Meeting called to order by President Don Bennett, KG7BP. 22 attendees

Treasurer’s report by Mike Bach, W6FFC: $5077.09 bank balance, but also owe $45 to CARE club for dual-memberships.

New business: Don: Sven’s (KI7QIY) son asks for someone to assist Alderwood assisted living facility in Central Point how to run coax for his radio.

John, KF7UMK, Scott, NA7OM, & Mark, KM7DEW, wondered if a swap meet could help us redistribute excess radio equipment. Scott will attempt to plan for that, perhaps a good location would be on exam days, afterwards.

Scott, NA7OM, had a rant about remote DX folks wanting to charge for QSL cards these days. Much chagrin among members was noted.

Mike, W6FFC, noted the ARRL is asking for $25 to get the print edition of QST after already promising to deliver print editions to subscribers. Send an email to [email protected] to protest this action. Also, some issues with unwanted league secrecy were discussed.

Scott, NA7OM, made a motion to study whether RVARC should expand to have an online presence of the meetings, similar to the Willamette club. Raoul, KG6DKA, seconded. Voting was 1 opposed, others yea, so motion passed. Much discussion ensued. Scott volunteered to investigate further.

Mark, KM7DEW, said the CARE club liked the Sam’s Valley location for the 2024 Field Day.
